
Moving on Wheels

I am pleased to introduce Ghulam Nabi Nizamani, a remarkable individual from rural Sanghar town in southern Pakistan. Despite facing physical disability from an early age due to polio, he has dedicated his life to advocating for disability rights and inclusion.
Ghulam Nabi holds master's degrees in Sociology and Economics from the University of Sindh, Pakistan. In 1985, he founded the All Sanghar Handicaps' Association (ASHA) and became involved in the disability movement. He also passed a competitive examination and joined the Social Welfare Department as a Social Welfare Officer in Government of Sindh.
Today, Ghulam Nabi is the EX-Chief Barista of Empowerment Café on Disability, Chairperson of Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) Asia Pacific Network, EX-Chairperson CBM Regional Advisory Committee for Eastern Mediterranean Region, and Finance Secretary of CBR Global Network. He is also the founder of ASHA, co-founder of South Asia Disability Forum (SADF), Sindh Disability Forum (SDF), Commonwealth Disabled Peoples' Forum (CDPF), Global Network for Entrepreneurs with Disabilities (GNED), and National Coordinator: Disability Equality Training (DET) Forum Pakistan and International Coordinator for CBID Network Pakistan.
Ghulam Nabi provides training, consultancy, and facilitation on Disability at an international level. He has facilitated workshops in South Asian, Central Asian, Southeast Asian, East Asian, and West Asian countries, as well as in Canada, the UK, Australia, Switzer Land, France and Uganda. As a person with a physical disability and a wheelchair user officer in government, he served as Focal Person for persons with disabilities in Sindh. Later, he joined the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and worked as Director General, Sindh Persons with Disabilities Protection Authority.
Ghulam Nabi's tireless efforts as a Disability Movement Activist serve as a model for all people. He travels to cities large and small to forward the mission of full inclusion for all people. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and passionate advocate for disability rights.
