Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met Saima Saleem—a visually impaired member of Pakistan’s diplomatic mission to the United Nations—and commended her for her outstanding contributions to international diplomacy.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday, the meeting took place at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi and was marked by warmth and mutual admiration.

The COAS praised Saima’s professional achievements, noting her resilience, talent, and unwavering commitment to advancing Pakistan’s interests at multilateral forums despite her physical challenges.

“Saima Saleem is a beacon of inspiration not only for persons with disabilities but for the entire nation,” the army chief said, reaffirming the Pakistan Army’s commitment to supporting and empowering individuals with disabilities so they can play a meaningful role in national development.

During the meeting, Saima Saleem briefed Field Marshal Munir on her ongoing work at the UN, drawing attention to critical issues facing Pakistan, including the persistent threat of state-sponsored terrorism, particularly from India, which she identified as a key factor in regional instability.

The army chief acknowledged her efforts in articulating Pakistan’s stance on global platforms and appreciated her dedication to safeguarding national interests through diplomacy.

He said her role at the UN demonstrated the unmatched potential of Pakistan’s human capital, regardless of physical ability.

The ISPR further noted that Saima Saleem also presented some of her literary work to the COAS during the meeting, showcasing her multi-faceted talents
