EXPERIENCE
- Around fifty years of professional experience in various fields primarily housing finance, industry finance through platforms of DFIs, industry and academia. This includes around thirty years’ experience in the financial sector of Pakistan, eight years at a development finance institution in Sultanate of Oman, and more than 10 years with multilateral agencies mainly the World Bank Group, UNHABITAT, CMHC of Canada etc.
- Well-versed in the cultural nuances, working environment, business modalities, and socio-economic aspects of countries in Asia-Pacific and MENA Region;
- Played a key role in promotion and establishment of Islamic financial institutions in Pakistan. That includes Meezan Bank, a Commercial Bank, and related Islamic finance institutions like Investment Bank, Asset Management company, and Islamic Insurance (Takaful). Played a pioneering role in establishment and promotion of Mutual Finds Industry in Pakistan and have served as Founder/Chairman of Mutual Funds Association of Pakistan (MUFAP), and served as a member of International Investment Funds Association (IIFA);
- “Outstanding CEO Award” by Association of Development Finance Associations in Asia-Pacific (ADFIAP), Manila in 2004;
- Founding Chairman of Academia Platform for Housing Research (APHR): With membership of 20+ universities in Pakistan, the APHR is promoting research on construction technology industry and construction materials industry. APHR is facilitating liaison in research areas between the Academia and the Construction Industry.
- Zaigham contributes articles on housing developments in Asia-Pacific region to Housing Finance International (HFI), since 2012. The HFI is a quarterly journal of International Union of Housing Finance (IUHF).
- Served as Team Lead on Working Group for Low-Income Affordable Housing Policy and Program “Apna Ghar” Program of the Government of Pakistan;
- Architect of PM Imran Khan’s Government Housing Policy and Program titled “Naya Pakistan Housing Program-NPHP)”.
- Advocacy for alleviation of Energy Poverty in low-income segments of population, and project promotion in the fiend of Alternate Energy options, mainly Solar and Wind Energy. Advocacy for environment friendly renewable energy and promoting awareness for, “Green Housing”, “Carbon Footprint” and “Clean Development Mechanism” in Pakistan.
- Zaigham is also working on programs for water conservation, water recycling and rain water harvesting in development of housing and habitat, as well as in the agri-sector.
- Founder and Patron of various social services organizations serving Persons with Disabilities. Authored State Policy for Persons with Disabilities for PM Imran Khan/PTI Government in Pakistan. Actively working with the various platforms for design and implementation of various digital initiatives to serve the cause of PwDs: Connect-Hear, an app/digital platform to facilitate onsite sign-language interpretation for Deaf, and Boltey-Haroof, a digital platform to generate inclusive braille, meaning printing Braille and its Urdu Script below.
- Teaching at Academia: Zaigham has maintained a strong linkage with academia during his career. Zaigham served as Teaching Assistant at Business School of Oklahoma State University, USA and has served as Visiting Faculty to the Business Schools of both Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) in Islamabad and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in Karachi, Pakistan
